- I went to CIFF yesterday and thought that Tower City might be the best place for parking. My friend and I arrived after 4:00pm, thinking that we would have dinner and then enjoy a movie.
We were given a ticket and drove around for 15-or-so minutes looking for a spot. It wasn't hard to spend that amount of time looking. Many areas were cordoned off and if you went into a blocked-off area you had to wait for traffic in order to back-up (which happened several times).
We decided to give up and try another parking garage. I pulled up to an exit booth which unfortunately didn't have an attendant. I beeped my horn hoping to get some assistance and a very nice young woman came over to help. I explained that we had not parked because there weren't any parking spaces.
The woman took my ticket and went to talk to her supervisor to get the matter straightened out. When she returned she told me that her supervisor said that we were there for 45 minutes and we had to pay our ticket.
With the time we waited for the attendant, we were there for 20 minutes total, not 45. Tower City needs to find people able to tell the military time stamped on the tickets!
In any case, I had to pay $6.00 to get out of a lot that I did not park in, and I am not the proud owner of $14 in gold one dollar coins which the machine gave me as change for my $20. My only option would have been to call the police and spend my evening fighting the parking charge.
Do not use Tower City's parking!
