- I've never had such a bad experience in a parking garage in NYC or anywhere in the world. This lot is close to the Jarvits Center. Today the lot was busy with everyone getting the Covid 19 vaccinations. I returned with a couple of minutes to spare to keep me under 2 hours, but there were 5 customers in front of me paying. When I got to the window it was a couple of minutes over.They acknowledged this, but said it doesn't matter and I had to pay for the next rate. This rate was published as $33, but the register said $40. Not realizing the tax was this high, I asked if it was a special rate today as it seemed higher than published. The attendant asked me what type of car I had and when I told him a compact SUV, he changed my charge to $55. I asked why he did that since he had the type of car on the ticket which was put there by the attendant that gave me the ticket and he said it was $55 and wouldn't talk to me about it. He just did it because I questioned the time previously. I had no choice but to pay it or I could not get my car back. These guys are crooks! Do not use this garage if you have a choice.
