- Disgusting dangerous experience. Parked in this lot for the first time yesterday. Spaces mostly full so went to the top floor. There were four of us, including my 90 year old father and 88 year old mother. We needed to use the elevator as they cannot manage the stairs. None of the four of us noticed the small sign at street level saying the elevator is inoperable. As we approached the elevator I helped my parents negotiate a metal angle sticking up in front of the elevator. Obvious tripping hazard. The elevator door opened and we got in. Initially the lighting appeared okay since we were on the top floor open to natural light. The elevator was full of trash, broken glass and smelled like urine. When the door closed we found ourselves in total darkness. We felt the elevator descending but door failed to open. Extremely uncomfortable, scary moment. Used our iPhone light to illuminate the button panel. The “door open” button worked and we were able to escape this frightening situation. I can’t imagine what would’ve happened if we were stuck. I used the dark and gross stairwell to retrieve my car and loaded my passengers at street level. I appreciate three hours of free parking but this garage is a disgrace and a lawsuit waiting to happen. Suggestion: add lighting to the main entrance the ramp is dark and disorienting to first time users. Send a maintenance person into the elevator machine room and shut off the electrical disconnect so elevator is really inoperable.
