You can buy a coffee with a card from a guy in a kiosk at a temporary vegetable market, but if you don't have cash at Thibault square, you have to reverse ( often 2 or 3 vehicles), re-park, go upstairs to the Standard bank ATM, which, if you are not with Standard bank will charge you an extra fee for using their service, withdraw cash and repeat your attempt to exit and pay, now paying for more time than you had originally spent. By the time I had done that. there were two OTHER people who also did not have cash going through the same process. I paid for all three of us out of exasperation. My parking should have been R20, and was in fact over R100 including bank charges. I parked for 1.5 hours.
