When I got to my vehicle, which was parked at City Center Parking, Station Place, 7418 NW Station Way, Portland, I discovered that someone had either vandalized and/or attempted a break in. I approached two employees at the exit booth, explained what had happened and was told “oh you are the other one”. Evidently there was another vehicle that had sustained a similar fate as mine. I was told I could fill out an online police report but there was nothing else they could do except not charge me for the time I had parked there. These employees were polite and responsive but very soon after our conversation they both left the area advising me that when I was ready to leave the gate would automatically go up to allow my exit.
I am aware that I take full responsibility when parking my vehicle in any given parking structure and the disclaimer written on the parking ticket “ Operator does not guard, or assume care, custody or control of your vehicle". I am also aware of the urban realities of the neighborhood immediately surrounding Portland Union Station and this nearby parking structure. That having been said, the ticket agents at Amtrak refer passengers needing to park vehicles to this structure, this structure is not after 10 p.m., Union Station itself has a very visible security force who does not hesitate to identify and discharge anyone who
