- We visited Cartmel on 19th April and parked at the racecourse. we were gone for approx one hour twenty mins. on our return we placed two one pound coins in the machine which were accepted. we then put in a fifty pence but no acceptance, we tried various coins therefter to no avail . The machine would not accept any coins. I was without my card. WE had no option but to leave owing 50pence. I received a fine for £35 and an address to appeal. I wrote a letter of appeal---no reply. Today I received a fine of £60. It is disgraceful. there was nobody around on the day to consult with about the problem with machine. WE are two pensioners of 85years and limited resources. It seems so unfair. disgusted.
