 - Visited Ely few weeks ago, saw many 'Park Free in Ely' signs on way in, parked in Waitrose. Didnt see any other signs, car park busy, everyone seemed to be getting out of their cars and heading for shops, so I did the same. Just received parking fine for £40-70 for parking over the 2 hour allowed free parking? They sent camera stills and yes that is my car going in and coming out. Not enough signs in car park, signs on street misleading. Is it worth appealing, I doubt it, shame as i enjoyed my visit, wont not bother again.

 - ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL THE WAITROSE CAR PARK IN ELY RUN BY BRITPARK. IT SAYS "FREE PARKING" BUT AFTER 2 HOURS THERE IS A FINE OF 40 POUNDS. NOTICES ARE SMALL AND IN A PLACE WHERE IT IS DIFICULT TO SEE AS THERE ARE CARS IN FRONT AND BEHIND YOU. YOU CANNOT SPEAK TO ANYONE AT BRITPARK YOU CAN ONLY EMAIL AND THAT CAN EASILY GO OVER THE TIME ALLOWED TO COMLAIN AND ANSWER (ESPECIALLY AS THERE ARE PROBABLY 100'S OF COMPLAINTS) YOUR QUERY AND THE FINE GOES UP TO 70 POUNDS. WAITROSE HAS JUST LOST ANOTHER CUSTOMER. i ONLY GGAVE 1 STAR AS YOU HAVE TO GIVE AT LEAST 1 STAR TO COMPLAIN, I WOULD HAVE GIVEN MINUS 10 IF POSSIBLE.

 - I have just received a parking charge for the Waitrose car park in Ely. My passenger on that day is disabled, so I parked in a disabled bay near the entrance to the shops, with the blue badge on display. There was no sign stating permitted times, allowances for blue badge holders etc that end of the car park and no time to read any signs near the car park entrance as I drove in because of following cars. There should be a sign at the "shops end" of the car park. Parking is supposedly free in Ely, but it doesn't seem free to me when I was penalised for basically not bothering to walk the length of the car park twice just to read the sign, and therefore exceeding the permitted time.

 - The parking is not long enough to have a look round Ely, shopping and a quick bite. i went just over 15 mins and got a £40 fine,(£70 if you take longer than 14 days to pay) i take an elderly relative shopping etc, its just too tight. Ely brags about its free parking but i find most of them too restrictive

 - I am a blue badge holder and have difficulty walking. I received a notice stating I was to pay for overstaying in the Waitrose car park. I assume the signs are at the entrance and I must admit, in future, to read them. I feel more concessions for handicapped people should be observed.

 - Just received a parking fine for Waitrose car park in Ely. My husband is recovering from a stroke we have a disabled badge as he is in a wheelchair. Our wheelchair developed a fault in one of the wheels and we were late back to the car. Surely disabled badge holders should be allowed more time? Most places it is free unlimited ! Shame on Ely. The Royal Standard Car Park is not accessible for wheelchair or disabled people! You need to rethink the parking for people with disabilities!

 - Just received my parking fine, guess I have to put my hand up but shame a disability parking badge doesn’t allow you a longer time to shop as it does it most other car parks.

 - I have received a parking fine at the car park next to Waitrose (ANPR) in Ely, Cambridgeshire. This fine was quite a shock as I had no idea the car park only allowed 2 hours free (as I dont live in Ely) and if you have not left you will be charged £40 min or £70 max. I was taking my mother who is disabled for a little xmas shopping and she cannot walk without using crutches or her mobility scooter which we didnt take that day, as I used my car. All the shops including Waitrose were really busy and had long queues and she was starting to become in pain distress so we found a coffee shop and took a break. I could not do anything else except wait for her pain relief tablets help her and get back to the car as soon as we could. I think they should give Blue Badge holders more time to shop cause I know how long it takes for a disabled person to get sorted and then try picking items to buy, probably takes twice as long as an abled body person. Anyway I am going to try and appeal.....!!!!!!

 -  week or so ago my friend mrs janet smith of Lakenheath and i/we took a trip to Ely. recently parked in waitrose car park. she has been fined,£40 for over the limit, like to point out it was my fault(friend) as i am diabectic. and needed urgently to get near by something to eat, which was why the delay un-plained. i was close to passing out. think tis fine was a bit harsh on a person who helped me out, ( we are both pensioners) regards barbara elliston, friend of mrs janet smith

 - The time limit is 2 hours which is not enough time if people want to enjoy Ely market, have lunch, shop in Waitrose and generally support local businesses. How about a pay and display system where the first two hours are free and a reasonable charge after that.
